About

Muslimah, married, fifty-ish African-American working girl with an Egyptian husband and a serious love for computers, news and books.

I while away the days at a major pharmaceutical company in the wilds of New Jersey and spend too much time on the ‘net when I’m home.

I started this blog because I enjoy current events and feel driven to “share.” I don’t enjoy being told “you can’t say that.”

Thanks for visiting!

    Good day Muslimah,

I work for film production company in the UAE, Meerkatfilms, and we have been commissioned by Al Jezeera TV to produce a short film for their EveryWoman programme. We would like to do the clip on Ayda Sultan, who you wrote about in your article “UAE: Interview with First Female Taxi Driver in Dubai” 11 Dec 06, but we are currently having difficulty in contacting her. Do you have any contact details and if you do can you send them to me?

    Thanks
    Brian

Hello, Brian — I do not have contact information for Ayda Sultan. The article I posted was from Agence France Press. There was no by-line. Perhaps you will have success if you contact AFP here. The date of the Agence France Press article was December 10, 2006 (or thereabouts) and it was sent from Dubai. Good luck!

    Assalamualaikum Progressive Muslima,

It was a mere coincidence that I dropped by your blog. But I am glad I did coz I identify with your byline, ie, “….a serious love for computers, news and books.” SAME HERE! And I write too. I have a blog but I am currently working on a newer one so wait for the web address (inshallah). Take care and keep up the good work!

    As salaamu alaiku, Ruhie.

Please send an update when your new blog goes live!

I envy people who write; I am usually so pressed for time, that it is difficult for me to write a proper essay. I create them in my mind, but by the time I get to the computer, the idea is gone!

So I am looking forward to seeing your writing. :-)

    Walaikumassalam Progressive Muslimah,

Glad to know that I will hopefully have you on my list when I get my blog running (inshallah inshallah). Meanwhile, here’s one of my article you may wish to read. It was recently published in the Iqra magazine of a leading newspaper in Pakistan and I got soooooo many responses to it (both good and bad). I thought I’d share it with you. Would love to hear your opinion on the topic. You can read my article at the following address: http://www.jang.com.pk/thenews/apr2007-weekly/iqra-20-04-2007/index.html

According to many many Islamic scholars there is no Khilafat in Muslim Ummah. They all like to see a Khalifa, but could not come to a conclusion.
What is your opinion on Khilafat, specialy on (Khilafat al minhaj-ul Nabuwah)Jazakallah Khair……….Wassalaam………Sam Khan

Helloo just want to say that i just came across this blog and really enjoyed it!! thank you for the articles and opinions. Im a secular bosnian, and I consider myself as muslim ethnically but im not a religious person. however im sick of the typical, radical muslim voices that are heard in the media. thank you for promoting the progressive muslim views that are common to many muslims..including my family members and friends.
